BLAST Robotics Visits Delaware County Community College to Explore STEM and Workforce Development Partnerships

Keystone STEM Alliance's BLAST Robotics Team (FIRST Robotics Competition Team 10989) recently visited Delaware County Community College (DCCC) to explore collaborative opportunities that strengthen STEM education, workforce development, advanced manufacturing, and skilled trades pathways for high school students.

The visit reflects Keystone STEM Alliance's ongoing commitment to connecting students with real world educational experiences, industry professionals, and career pathways that prepare them for success in today's rapidly evolving workforce.

Touring Delaware County Community College's Advanced Technical Training Facilities

During the visit, the BLAST Robotics delegation toured several of DCCC's cutting edge learning environments, gaining firsthand insight into the College's career focused technical education programs.

The tour included:

  • Mechatronics Lab
  • Automotive Technology Lab
  • Electrical Technology Lab
  • Carpentry Training Center
  • Plumbing Lab
  • Shipbuilding Program

Students and mentors learned how these programs provide practical, hands on experiences that prepare learners for careers in advanced manufacturing, automation, engineering technologies, and skilled trades.

The team also explored Dual Enrollment opportunities, which allow high school students to earn college credits while developing valuable technical skills before graduation.

Learning About Workforce Development Opportunities

The Keystone STEM Alliance delegation met with several members of the DCCC leadership team, including:

  • Jennifer Orazi, Dean of Workforce & Economic Development
  • Sherrod Watson, Director of Advanced Technology
  • Amy Antrim, Director of Skilled Trades

The discussion focused on how educational institutions and nonprofit organizations can work together to create stronger pathways into high demand technical careers through industry aligned training, certifications, and experiential learning.
